Larry Ashley                                             Martin Simonton
 Hello Im Larry Ashley.
I am a naturalist, artist, farmer and father, and have been living in this area for over 45 years.
Ive worn a lot of hats over the years, working in heavy construction, as a a draftsman, and the last 20 years as a nurseryman and landscape artist in Montgomery Texas.
I've always had a deep love for the outdoors, spending most of my free time in nature, exploring the creeks, rivers and woods of Montgomery County.
When I was a young man in the 1970's there were many places to access natural areas, but over the years I've seen almost all of these opportunities disapear. As the population increased, large tracts of land were devided into smaller parcels, and by the mid 1980's most of the land that used to be available for roaming was fenced and posted.
In Christmas of 1994 I met Town Creek Parks co founder Martin Simonton.
Martins family came here 8 generations ago in the second wave of pioneers, while Texas was still Mexico! When I met him he was only 21 but already had his first business going, Pecan Hill Herb Nursery. Martin and I became friends immediately, as we both had nurseries, loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, plants, nature...
My daughter was 3 when I met Martin, he generously allowed us access to his familys land, and over the next several years we spent almost all of our free time exploring, fishing and roaming it. (Wrote a song about it!) To me this access was such a blessing, and many times I thanked him and told him how much I apreciated it. Later on I bought some of that very same land from him, and that land became Town Creek Park.

In 2007 I was looking for some land, and Martin offered me a tract on the North West end of his property, and one on the South East end. There was no road to them at the time, but a few years in the future the Lone Star Parkway would be built and the land would have frontage on it. Both properties were on Town Creek, so I asked him if we could connect them with  an easement between the two. He readily agreed, and the foundation was laid for Town Creek Park. Very soon afterward I realised the potential of this arrangement, and began to plan earnestly for the park.
A year or so later surveyors began plotting the Lone Star Parkways path. They had to cross my easement, and soon they contacted me. I said I was donating if they could put a sidewalk under the bridge, and they agreed. It was one of the biggest achievements of my life, suddenly the park was real!

TEAM MEMBERS

Bob Transou

Bob is our all around answer guy. He has been in construction management for over 30 years, his specialty is site preparation, drainage and foundation construction, altho his scope of interest and breadth of knowledge is is much broader, covering many disciplines.
Bob has been involved in this project from its inception, and has donated his expertise and equipment many, many times

Tiffany Ashley

Tiffany is Co founder Larry Ashleys daughter, and has been involved in Town Creek Park since day one. She is more familiar with the park than most, as she lived there in a T Pee for 9 months! She ran a Community Supported Agriculture there called May Pop Farm before going off to college. She now lives in North Carolina with her son Forest.

Travis Boaz

Travis is a gifted carpenter, specialising in timber framing, but loves all around carpentary work. Years ago I visited Travis on a weekend. He was by himself shooting together walls and hanging trusses on a tiny home, experimenting on designs, then knocking them down and redoing them. On his weekend off, for fun! He has a strong interest in walkable community design, local food, and sustainability.
Travis has been helping with the project from day one, from planting to building steps for the barn he has given many hours of work to the park

Norman McDonnell

Norman is our go to guy on all things internet. He handles our websites and the nuts amd bolts of our crowdfunding campaign. He has many skills and a great, "can do" attitude. He is ready to help do anything needed, from office clerical to Bulldozer repair. We are lucky to have Norman on our team

Prestone Wilms

Preston is a dedicated volunteer and was involved in the construction of Town Creek Park early on, helping with pond construction, clearing farm fields and laying in the first crops. He had a strong interest in plants and walkable design, which he retained thru a stint in the Marines, and now works at the Dallas Arboretum.
Prestone is intelligent and level headed, and we are glad to have him on our team

I want to sincerely thank the many people who have helped with the park over the years.  This portrait is far from complete, and my apologies to those who have helped but are not presented here, send me your picture and I will get it in there!
